So, what IS covered by flood insurance?

Damage to personal property including furniture, rugs and clothing and certain valuables.
Damage to systems in the home. For example, electrical and plumbing systems, furnaces, water heaters, fuel tanks, water tanks, solar energy equipment and more.
Damage to the foundation of your home including walls and staircases.
Expenses that occur when protecting your home against imminent flood damage (sandbagging, etc.)
Expenses for clean-up costs such as debris removal.
What is NOT covered by flood insurance?
Damage to personal property or furniture that is stored in a basement or crawl space.
Damage to anything outside of the home (Cars, trees, plants, walkways, decks, patios, pools, hot tubs, etc)
Damage to financial items such as cash, stock certificates or bearer bonds
