  • Update your insurance policy

Firstly, in the state of CT you are required to carry motorcycle insurance to legally ride your motorcycle. Not only does insurance protect you as the driver, but also protects other drivers in case of an accident. Typical coverages that are available are

  • Bodily Injury Liability

  • Property Damage Liability

  • Uninsured/Underinsured Motorist Bodily Injury

  • Uninsured/Underinsured Motorist Property Damage

  • Medical Payments

  • Collision

  • Comprehensive

  • Towing & Storage

  • Trip Travel Interruption Coverage

It seems like a lot, but setting up a policy can be super easy and will be so worth having in the long run. Call one of our agents anytime for a quote and more information, or visit this link here!

  • Uncover and dust off your bike

Take off any covers or rags used to store your bike for the winter. Wash and polish it with the right products, then take it for a short ride to clear off any excess water.

  • Check the fuel system and fluids

Look over the fuel tank and fuel lines, examine for any cracks or leaks. Replace the fuel filter and check to make sure the fuel is consistent and clean. You’ll also want to check the fluid hose connections for looseness or signs of leakage, and top of any fluids that need to be refilled.

  • Change the oil

It’s recommended to change the oil before storage, and again in the spring.

  • Brake Check

Examine brake lines for cracks or leaks as well as the brake pads for wear, as you don’t want them to be too thin. Fill brake fluid, clean the rotors and lubricate the brake hand levers and throttle cables.

  • Test controls and electrical systems

Inspect switches, lights, gauges, turn signals, levers, pedals and other pertinent controls for proper use. You’’ also want to test the horn to make sure it’s working correctly.

  • Proper riding gear

Along with getting your bike running smoothly, you’ll want to set yourself up with safe and protective gear. This includes a helmet, boots, rain gear, gloves, etc. If you already have most of these items, we suggest replacing or upgrading when the time is right since protective qualities can deteriorate over time!

  • Good to go!

You’re ready to enjoy the season!! Be safe and have fun!
