Pool Safety! Items most people don't think about

Summer is finally here! This means cookouts, family gatherings, going to the beach and of course, swimming in the pool! While these activities are nothing but fun we always have to take precautions to be safe this summer. Here are just 5 pool safety items most people may not think about when owning a pool!

While you’re not at home, I’m sure you won’t want just anyone taking a dip in the pool. To keep your mind at ease, installing a pool alarm will tell you immediately if someone is near or in the pool. There are many different pool alarms on the market, such as fence/wall mounted alarms, pool mounted infrared detectors, underwater motion alarms, floating motion sensors and more! See which one would be best for you and your family’s pool!

If you have a pet that loves to swim, or if you’re worried about them falling in, make sure you have the proper items! This can be as simple as ramps or bridges to help your pets have easy access in and out of the pool.

Most towns now require a fence to be installed when buying a new in-ground or above-ground pool. Even if it’s not required in your area, it’s always suggested! Most fences will have a self-closing, self-latching gate and doesn’t have to be any higher than a few feet making it easy for anyone to access. If you're not looking for something so permanent, portable and temporary fences are available as well to help keep kids and animals out of the water while they’re not being supervised.

Hopefully you may never need to use these items, but should always have them in case of an emergency. This includes things like a lifesaver with a rope or a shepherd's hook in the rare chance someone may be drowning or unable to swim out.

Sometimes just the “necessities” may not be enough. It’s good to be prepared to any situation that may come your way! Here’s an incredible list of some items that are great for adults and children to ensure a safe a fun summer! Check out the list here!
